Shifts in language and learning standards have elevated expectations of students and teachers alike. It is clear that “English learner students need additional help and teachers need a great deal of support” (Goldenberg, 2013, p.5).

Education Northwest’s Framework for Intentional Planning Practice is a set of standards-based planning principles designed to elevate language practice and extend language development throughout the school day. This four step process coaches teachers to analyze their standards for language development opportunities. Further, these practices model effective scaffolding and formative assessment practice to ensure that students are rising to standards. This 80 minute session provides an overview of Intentional Planning Practice with a deeper dive into steps one and two. This session is designed for any educator that serves language learner students.
